5th Grade Students explored the tools then created short animations with the app DoInk using the iPads (funded by the Hingham Education Foundation.) They began in teams of two, creating the figure animation, then created backgrounds and combined their teams to learn about paths and pacing as well as how to change the rate of the animation of their characters. They also created titles and animated them. For a first try, these are fabulous! Great Teamwork Fifth Graders!

While I know that most fifth grade students felt that they learned a lot creating a short animation on the iPads, I'd love to hear your thoughts. Have you spoken with your fifth grade student about their animation? Do you feel that crating an animation is as valuable as using traditional media?
